The story
Organic Angkor green tea
Of all the teas we blend under the Thé d’Asie label, this is the one that tastes like where it is sold. The base is an organic Chinese green tea, but what you notice first is the lemongrass and then the ginger arriving behind it, the same two aromatics that open almost every Cambodian dish.
It was built as a tea that a visitor could bring home and actually associate with the trip, rather than a generic green tea in a box with a temple on it. That is also why it carries the name it does.
Brewing, and the iced version
Hot: 90 °C, two to three minutes, no milk, no sugar unless you want it. Ginger keeps developing in the cup, so a second minute changes the balance more than it would with a plain green tea.
Iced is where it really works, and it is how most people drink tea here between March and May. Brew it double strength, let it cool, pour over a full glass of ice. The lemongrass survives the dilution better than most aromatics and the ginger gives it a bite that a cold plain tea usually lacks. A slice of lime finishes it.
A note for visitors
Loose leaf travels badly if it is loose in a bag and well if it is in a tin. Ask in the shop and we will tell you which format fits what you are carrying. Available in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Kampot, and at our stockists.
What our customers say
I came in for one tube of black pepper and left with the three colour set. The staff opened each one so I could smell them before choosing. Nothing was rushed.

Questions
Which tea should I bring back from Cambodia?
This one, if you want something that tastes of where it was bought. The base is a Chinese green tea, but the ginger and lemongrass blended into it here are the two aromatics that open almost every Khmer dish. It was designed in our workshop, not bought ready-made.
Does it work iced?
Better than hot, between March and May. Brew it at double strength, let it cool before it meets the ice, then pour over a full glass. Lemongrass survives dilution better than most aromatics and the ginger gives the cold cup a bite that plain iced tea lacks. A slice of lime finishes it.
Where can I buy it in Siem Reap?
In our Kandal Village shop, in metal tins and in kraft bags. Take the tin if it is going in a suitcase: loose leaf goes stale through contact with air, light and smell, and a paper bag protects against none of the three. Ask at the counter and we will tell you which format suits what you are carrying.
